I am a 24-year-old woman who has had a lot of obstacles in the way in my life, but has never been completely knocked down and continues to be cheerful and friendly. I am a geeky, intelligent, fun-loving person who has a penchant for bad puns, music, and crafting. I am primarily Christian (Protestant), but my spirituality also draws on Wiccan and Buddhist principles. ||
My conservative, Catholic parents were damagingly strict. They held high expectations, which only got worse when I came out to them in college. Needless to say, they have been judgmental and unsupportive parents, despite my otherwise excellent behavior and never having been in trouble with the law, drugs, etc. ||
I have been in a 5-year relationship with a wonderful woman (to whom I am engaged!). ||
I hope to find a mother- or father-figure, or even a new family who would give me even a little of the parental love, advice, and appreciation I never really received throughout my life. It hurt to never be acknowledged for who I am, and to be judged for each little thing “wrong” with me. Now, I long for someone in a parent role who sees me for the loving, kindhearted intent I bear… and the person I am.
