Chooseafamily.com® (“CAF”) is an online social community that allows our members to set up unique personal profiles about themselves and have an interactive network with others. It is a place where users and Members can communicate with each other. It is a place where users and Members can find new family figures, friends and mentors. CAF’s members can view each others’ profiles, communicate, share photos, comments, personal stories and describe their interests. To enrich our members’ experience, we request and display some personal information to other members and visitors, which allows our users to identify each other and expand their network of friends. CAF’s members can change their profile information at any time and can control how other members and the Chooseafamily.com® service communicates with them

Chooseafamily.com, Inc. (hereinafter, “CAF or Chooseafamily.com®”) has created this Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to helping our users better understand what information we collect about them and how that information may be used.

Information Collection and Used by Chooseafamily.com®
Chooseafamily.com® collects user submitted information such as name, email address, and age to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to the Chooseafamily.com® service. Chooseafamily.com® does not accept membership by any person under the age of eighteen (18) and Chooseafamily.com®. Chooseafamily.com® also collects other profile data including but not limited to: personal interests, gender, age, hometown, current location and occupation in order to assist users in finding and communicating with each other.
Chooseafamily.com® may also log non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to members. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring.
Be advised that your personally identifiable information will be stored and processed on our computers which are located in the United States. The laws on holding personal data in the United States may differ from the laws of other jurisdictions but, notwithstanding, Chooseafamily.com® shall maintain and transmit your information in a safe, confidential and secure manner.
Your User Profile is available for other members to view. Your viewable User Profile does not include any identifying information about you, except your first name and any other information or photographs YOU submit for inclusion in your profile, a User’s likes and dislikes, individual essays and other information helpful in determining matches and in order to facilitate user interaction in the Chooseafamily.com® social networking community. Email addresses are used for the purposes of inviting new friends to join CAF, link Members who wish to communicate with one another and to send notifications related to the service. With the exception of inviting others, adding others, and notifications, a user’s email address is not shared or displayed to people within a user’s personal network. Users can communicate on Chooseafamily.com® with each other through the Chooseafamily.com® service, without disclosing their email addresses. Users’ full names are never directly revealed to other members.
We may also use a user’s email address to send updates, a newsletter or news regarding the service. Users may choose not to receive email of this type or be featured in newsletters or other marketing promotions by changing their settings in the user “Account Settings.”
From time to time, Chooseafamily.com® or a partner, may sponsor a promotion, sweepstakes or contest on Chooseafamily.com®. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate. We may transfer personal information to certain ad partners that you have explicitly requested to receive information from. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply. CAF assumes no liability for any actions by third parties as a result of your participation in said third party sponsored promotions, sweepstakes or contests.
Invitations and Other Communications to Non-members
CAF members can invite others to join the service by sending invitation emails via our automated invitation system. Chooseafamily.com® stores the email addresses that members provide so that the respondents may be added to the friend’s list of the members sending the invitations. Chooseafamily.com® does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides invitations. Recipients of invitations from Chooseafamily.com® may contact Chooseafamily.com® to request the removal of their information from our database.
Use of Cookies
Chooseafamily.com® automatically tracks certain information and collect data based upon your behavior on our websites using “cookies” and other devices. “Cookies” are small files placed on your hard drive that assist us in providing customized services. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on Chooseafamily.com®.
Discussion Boards, Member Profiles & Use of Other Members’ Information
Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily post public information to Testimonials, Discussion Boards, Member Profiles or any other Public Forums in which that information can be accessed by the public, that information can in turn be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications. Additionally, as Chooseafamily.com® provides access to the aforementioned Discussion Boards and Forums, and other modes of communication, you have access to other Members’ profiles, and you might gain access to other contact information of Members through the use of internal CAF mail. Under no circumstances, except as defined in this Section, can you disclose personally identifiable information about another member to any third party without our consent and the consent of such other member after adequate disclosure.
Correcting/Updating or Removing Information
Chooseafamily.com® users may modify or remove any of their personal information, password and email address at any time by logging into their account and accessing features such as Edit Profile and Account Information. If you change your password and email we keep track of your old password and email. You can also change your registration information such as: name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, personal comments, interests, and other information.
Notwithstanding the above, Chooseafamily.com® will retain in its files information you have requested to remove for certain circumstances, such as to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce our Terms and Conditions. Further, such prior information is never completely removed from our databases due to technical and legal constraints, including stored ‘back up’ systems. Therefore, you should not expect that all of your personally identifiable information will be completely removed from our databases in response to your requests.
Email Choice/Opt-out/Anti-Spamming
Members who no longer wish to receive updates or notifications may choose not to by selecting ‘Do not send me notification emails’ in the user profile ‘Account Settings’. in the future.
Chooseafamily.com® and our Members do not tolerate spam. Therefore, without limiting the foregoing, you are not licensed to add Chooseafamily.com® Members to your mail list (email or physical mail) without their express written consent after adequate disclosure. To report spam from other Chooseafamily.com® Members, please send an email to privacy@Chooseafamily.com.
