I’m here because I believe family can sometimes be found, not only inherited.
I’m an adult who has never met my biological father.
I recently found out that he passed away from an illness in 2016, something my mother didn’t tell me until late last year. It was painful to realize that I would never have the opportunity to meet him or know what having a relationship with him would have been like.
My relationship with my mother has also been complicated, and some experiences throughout my upbringing have left me emotionally tired and longing for a healthier kind of parental connection.
I would love to meet a genuine mother figure, father figure, or both someone who has room in their heart for an adult daughter. Someone I can talk to, learn from, laugh with, receive guidance from, and eventually feel genuinely connected to as family. I would also love to give that same love, respect, appreciation and companionship in return.
I’m not looking for a perfect family or trying to change what happened in the past. I’m simply hoping to find a new kind of family connection one built intentionally, with love, trust, kindness and mutual respect.
If we connect, I would want us to take our time, get to know each other naturally and allow the relationship to become whatever genuine family bond it is meant to be.
