I am 20 yrs old, I do not smoke/do drugs (I use electronic cigarettes), and I occasionally have ‘girly’ drinks once in a while.
At the age of 14 I went to live with my birth mother.
When I turned 17 I left their household and spent the next few months in a runaway shelter until I turned 18, then went to Job Corps.
My mother has always been manipulative, degrading, and demotivating.
We have never had a good relationship as she says that it is always my fault.
I have tried multiple times after having falling outs with her to rekindle our relationship but to no avail.
I always end up leaving because she proves that she has not changed even over the years.
I have 2 sisters who I do not speak to because they live with her and are fed lies that I am a horrible person and someone they shouldnt look up to.
I am 20 yrs old, I have my own place filled with my own possessions, my own car, and am enrolled in college with my major as psychology so that I can become a psychologist for soldiers deploying to/returning from over-seas with PTSD etc (I am a former army-brat)
My life is pretty well set up.
I wish I could have a civil and normal relationship with my blood family but the effort on their part is not there as every time an attempt to get along was made, it was always initiated by me.
I have had the picture perfect family before moving with her.
Who I call ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ were the people who adopted me at the age of 8 months old.
They were perfect.
And I could not have asked for a better family or better parents.
If it were my choice, I would have stayed with them for as long s time would allow.
But sadly, I lost both my parents.
My mom 2.10.13 of a brain tumor and my dad 10.10.13 in a motorcycle accident.
They were an older couple, both in their 70’s, who raised me with respect and in an ‘old-fashioned’ manner.
Despite my physical appearance, blue hair, piercings, and tattoos, I still hold what they taught me to the highest respect.
I find beauty in things that most would consider strange.
Normal is a term defined by society in my eyes.
I am very open-minded about everything and believe everything can be possible and nothing is impossible.
