Hi! My name is Michelle, I’m 39 and I’ve always felt like an outsider looking in the window of what others have: A family with connection, feelings of safety and mutual care.
I come from an abusive family that I went no contact with a long time ago. While that has helped me mentally in one way, it also has harmed me in another, by feeling very isolated in the realm of family. Holidays especially feel so empty.
When I was getting married, it felt heartbreaking to not have people for my side; to not have a mom or dad to walk me down the aisle and likewise to confide in when I seek guidance.
For instance, entering perimenopause feels so confusing to go through with no women members of family.
I want people in my life that can fill that hole in my heart and that I can provide the same for, where we can share how our days are, support one another and make these feelings of family our own.
Things about me: I’m progressive-minded, LGBTQIA+ friendly (am bisexual) and non-religious. I enjoy creating art, going for hikes with my dog, reading both non-fiction and fictional writing (I don’t know which I love more!) I love animals, I have two cats and a dog, but used to also keep tarantulas and reptiles as well, I have a love for creatures that seem misunderstood. I love all sorts of discussion topics ranging from absolute silliness to dark humor to deep conversations about the theories of life’s purpose.
Worthy of note: I have level 1 autism. I also struggle with OCD which I’m currently in exposure therapy for (ERP).
