I believe family is not defined only by blood.
There are people who, for many different reasons, may reach adulthood without having the kind of close family relationships they would have liked: a mother or father figure, a son or daughter, a brother or sister, or simply someone who feels like family.
I am interested in the idea of chosen family between adults: genuine, lasting relationships based on trust, affection, mutual support, companionship and respect.
I am not looking for dating or a romantic or sexual relationship. What interests me is understanding and experiencing how meaningful family-like bonds can naturally develop between adults who choose to be part of each other’s lives.
I value sincerity, kindness, emotional maturity, respect for personal boundaries and reciprocity. I believe that a healthy chosen-family relationship should develop gradually, without pressure or dependency, and should enrich the lives of both people.
I am especially interested in meeting thoughtful people who also believe that family can sometimes be something we consciously build, not only something we are born into.
For me, the idea is simple:
We may not share the same blood, but we can still choose to care, support and be there for one another.
Family can also be chosen.
