Hi. I’m at a point in my life where I am rather isolated from my family of origin, both geographically and philosphically. Growing up, I never knew my father. My mother was abusive and manipulative. I’ve tried several times to make my relationship with her work, but nothing ever helped, and I always ended up being blamed for something else. Unfortunately, I no longer speak with her. I have a sister who wants to sweep this all under the rug and pretend this is normal. She and I now see our family in totally different lights. While I still occasionally speak with her, we have a fundamental difference of opinion on most things, so we do not get along well.
I myself as a result of all this want something more from life. I have a very loving wife who is my best friend and everything you could ever want from a life partner. She has a great family that is very accepting of me, but I wish I had my own family as well. That brought me here.
