I was in foster care between the ages of 7/8-10. I was then reunited with a birth parent, but I reached out to that same foster family and asked them to take me back as things were bad. They did, under temporary guardianship, and talked about it becoming permanent, but returned me to my parent when I was 13/14. I left home at 17 with help from an older sibling, not knowing I could re-enter foster care as my state offers "extended" foster care to the age of 21. Still looking for that home base, people to call parents.
